Installing

Installing a resource

The general steps for adding a FiveM resource to your server.

Updated 9 October 2026

These are the general steps that apply to most FiveM resources. Every product page has its own installation notes and requirements, which take priority over this page.

Before you start

  • Check the product’s requirements: framework, game build and server artifact version.
  • Install its dependencies first. A resource will not start if something it depends on is missing or starts after it.
  • Take a backup of your resources folder and server.cfg.

Steps

  1. Download the resource from the Cfx.re Portal (or wherever the product page says).

  2. Extract it into your server’s resources folder. Keep the folder name exactly as it is: other resources may refer to it by name.

  3. Add it to server.cfg with an ensure line, after its dependencies:

    ensure ox_lib
    ensure resource_name
  4. Configure it. Most resources have a config.lua (or similar). Read the comments in it and the product’s documentation.

  5. Restart the server, not just the resource, the first time you install something that adds map data or streamed files.

If it does not start

Look at the server console when it starts. The first error usually names the problem:

  • “Could not find dependency”: install that resource and ensure it before this one.
  • Escrow or authentication errors: see escrowed resources.
  • Nothing happens in game: check the resource started (ensure line present and spelled the same as the folder), then check the client console (F8).

Still stuck? Contact support with the console output and what you have tried.
